  • Take health seriously, the link between poor health and fuel poverty is well documented. Train staff to give energy efficiency advice and help residents’ manage their heating systems - Energy Savings Trust

  • Ensure promoting good health for residents’ and staff appears in documents, strategies and procedures.

  • Build strong partnerships with your Primary Care Trusts. Promoting healthy living advice in residents’ newsletters and at resident events.

  • Build and refurbish to promote healthy homes, with good natural daylight, reduce the reliance on materials like MDF, PVC, plastic based paints and linoleum and replace them with sustainable wood, organic paints and natural floor coverings.

  • Work with local authorities, other housing providers, the youth service and play providers to ensure good quality formal and informal play and recreation spaces and opportunities are designed into family estates.

  • Promote subsidised holiday play schemes to resident families.

  • Work with residents and community partners like The Groundwork Trust and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers to bring to life derelict and uncared for wildlife areas and community spaces.
