Recycling

Burying rubbish in a hole in the ground where it can pollute the soil, waterways and emit green house gases makes no sense at all. Legislation from Europe will result in heavy fines for those local authorities that do not deal with their municipal waste disposal and no doubt those fines will result in increases in council tax and fines for those who do not recycle. Everyone has a role to play and there are lots of things we can do on our own and collectively to make recycling a natural and easy thing to do.

Did you know ???

  • Household waste contributes 9% of the UK’s waste.

  • 80% of your household waste could be recycled.

  • The majority of our landfill sites will be full in the next 10 years.

  • We send 8 million nappies a day to landfill.

  • Up to 20% of what arrives in the post is unopened and up to 60% unread.

  • 20% of what we buy in supermarkets is not eaten and thrown in the bin.

  • Construction waste contributes 33% of the UK’s total.
