Water

Water is precious and becoming scarcer as the world warms up. Finding new ways to conserve and re-use water in the home and at work saves money, makes good sense and protects our environment.

Did you know ???

  • A third of your water consumption is flushed down the toilet (9.5 litres a flush).

  • A bath uses 80 litres, a five minute shower 35 litres and a power shower 120 litres.

  • A single washing machine cycle can use up to 100 litres of water and the average family uses their washing machine at least five times a week. (That’s 26,000 litres a year.)

  • Using a hose to wash your car wastes up to 300 litres of water or 33 buckets of water.

  • A dripping tap can waste up to 4 litres of water a day.

  • Each year 30,000 tonnes of used engine oil seeps into the ground and rivers.
